working out at the gym
While working out at the gym, I sometimes notice people who are overweight and I can't help but wonder — how does it happen that such deformations occur in a person? And tuning into a couple of people, I received the information that these people are stress-eating. And this, as is well known, is one of the most common causes of excess weight in people.
Why does this happen? Why does a person seek to eat away their anxieties, worries, and concerns with food? Is it not because it calms them down, even if just a little?
If you have a similar problem, pay attention to what state you are in when you eat. Especially when there is no great need for it. Pay special attention to foods that are undesirable for your health but that enhance taste sensations, such as chips, fast food, etc.
And ask yourself: "Am I hooked on a problem that's troubling me right now?" How capable are you at that moment of enjoying the meal, its taste, in other words — of being in the moment? Of truly being — LIVING, letting go of everything that has nothing to do with the current situation you are experiencing.
If you could really do this, if you could manage to eat well at least once a day, getting genuine pleasure and completely "disconnecting the wires" of your consciousness from any anxieties, gloom, and worries, then you would want to eat away things much less.
Any stress-eating is just a minor and short-term dose of calm, a temporary distraction of part of your attention from the actual problem that exists, but for which you haven't yet found the key.
You are unlikely to find true peace in stress-eating, because it does not depend on anything external, but rests on your inner support and strength. Always remember this when you reach for another sandwich with sausage in the fridge.
Bon appétit!
