Today in the gym I offered my best Mexican friend Omar to spar

Today in the gym I suggested to my best Mexican friend Omar that we spar. Our coach Vic said that's only allowed on sparring day — Sabado (Saturday). Vic took the opportunity to say, and he said it very emphatically, that I'm terrible on my feet, specifically — in moving around the ring (in truth I'm just lazy and economical with my movements, but the coach probably knows better here 😄) and that I need to work hard all week so I don't get my ass kicked this Saturday, because he intends to spar with me too.

I thanked him for the honor, Vic is a wonderful person and an excellent boxer of the traditional and universally respected Mexican style, and we've also built warm, friendly relations. He always greets me in Russian, saying "privet" when I come to training, and says goodbye too (and by the way, he's not the only one). In the past Vic has been to Moscow multiple times, went on boxing training camps when he was still an amateur, and his team back then was called, if I'm not mistaken, Mexican Guerrero, or something like that.

Great guys, all of them, a very friendly atmosphere — they're the kind of people I'll be happy to miss when I leave this sunny paradise town, and #WolfBoxingPlaya has become a place where I feel at home and where I always go with great pleasure, despite the hellish heat that makes training sometimes very, very tough. Still, for a person who grew up and was shaped in conditions of a half-year winter, the local climate is harder to bear than for the locals. +37 at training is no joke. 😬🔥

With Omar, my dear friend, a most saintly person, whom by the way I started teaching Russian today because he really likes Russia, our mentality, and our people in general, we'll also have a fight — we agreed on 3 rounds of 3 minutes.

What could be better than beating up your Hermano one of these days?

The other day Omar was very upset by the defeat of his compatriot Canelo Álvarez to our boxer Dima Bivol and jokingly said that our fight, which will take place this Saturday, will be a rematch where he'll be Canelo 🇲🇽 and I'll be Bivol 🇷🇺. By the way, in style he reminds me a lot of Canelo, coincidence? 😼

Well, since I'll be representing the whole country, I'll have to give it my all! 🥊😄
