impossible to train at home the way you can in a gym
You can't train at home the way you can in a gym. Yeah, there are tons of videos on how to turn yourself into a musclehead at home, but home workouts are without a doubt garbage. Agreed? The contrast becomes as clear as day when you train in a place specifically meant for it.
⠀
This whole time I've been in Mexico, I've been training at home; outdoor pull-up bars — apparently, Mexico doesn't really have that concept, it just doesn't exist in their culture. And that's sad. I haven't turned into a sack of potatoes, but I feel significantly weaker — before Mexico, I was in the best shape of my entire life.
⠀
Comparing results from home workouts to gym workouts is roughly 1 to 10. Whatever they are. I don't know what it is about the gym, it's nothing less than a place of power that genuinely makes you more jacked, where you walk out stronger than you were before.
⠀
I love gyms that have punching bags; it lets you keep your fighting shape in tone. Obviously, a punching bag won't hit you back, but it's better than nothing. In unstable times, when you're here and there, moving through the world like some kind of hurricane, a gym like that is wonderful.

It's damn heartening when there's a heavy bag hanging there, along with special machines for developing combat functionality. This time I got lucky. I hope in other countries I'll have no less luck.
