The Bivol-Canelo fight – honestly, before the bout I thought it would go to a decision in Canelo's favor. Not because he's better, but because it's Canelo – the most popular Mexican boxer of our time. Literally a god in the flesh.
You should have seen how the locals cheered for him; for them, he's like an icon, a true hero, roughly like Maradona. At least, that's how it is at the club where I train.
When I told them our boxer could very well out-punch him, they laughed at me. )) But as soon as the score on the judges' cards tipped past 7 winning rounds in Dmitry's favor, their fervor cooled right off 😄
Omar, my best Mexican friend, a saintly man, said after the fight that his heart is now broken – their boxing legend suffered a crushing defeat, but everyone who watched the fight acknowledged his victory. Dmitry is truly a boxer of the highest level, an incredibly fast and skilled fighter – no one had any questions after the bout.
To be honest, I didn't expect Dima to be capable of not just winning, but schooling Alvarez – a champion in four weight classes, and not some random champ like Julio Cesar Chavez Jr., but the undisputed champion at super middleweight with claims to being undisputed in several weights, including heavyweight.
Happy for my countryman, and doubly nice to celebrate the victory while on the losing side's turf 😼🥊 Today is our day 🇷🇺🔥
