One got hacked, then another, then a third
One account got hacked, then a second, a third... Friends, if mine gets hacked too, just know this — if I ever decide, for my own reasons, to raise funds for anything through donations, I'll do it either via a video message or through dedicated services where everything can be easily verified.
For example, the crowdfunding platform Boomstarter for raising funds to start and grow a business. I have an account there; you can visit my page, read about the project I'm raising money for (if there is one), and it clearly shows the amount already raised and how much is left to collect. Everything is very transparent.
But if you see something from me like "Raising funds to help fight someone's cancer, here's my card number..." — keep in mind, that's scammers. I will absolutely never do anything like that, 110%. If the situation is truly critical (anything can happen, right?), then as I said before — I'll record a video where everyone can see and hear me.
But what lies beyond all conceivable and inconceivable limits is — writing to people in private messages, especially those I barely know, asking them to send me money. To that previous 110%, I'd add a zero. That's impossible in any universe.
Let's just use our heads — if I need to borrow from someone (I've only borrowed money a couple of times in my life), I'll of course do it in a personal conversation — a meeting or at least a phone call. How else? Would you transfer money to someone after a few text messages?
Of course, no one is immune to a sudden eclipse of the mind, when we unexpectedly find ourselves capable of doing something stupid. And that's exactly why I wrote this post — to warn my dear subscribers against that kind of eclipse.
Let's be sensible 🙏
Don't fall for it 🖤
